We began working with a climate tech company in late 2023 that lacked a media presence in the United States. The company is developing energy technology that is harnessing a critical renewable energy source.

The Challenge

Recognizing the United States as a significant growth opportunity, our client set out to shape federal policies that would allow for the industry to make significant progress. To advance their policy agenda, the company’s executives enlisted our team to communicate the company’s story to reporters, members of Congress and staff, federal agency leadership, and third-party advocates. They also aimed to position the company’s executives as thought leaders and put their industry front-and-center in the energy conversation. This was especially important given that major federal laws had largely overlooked the industry, and they sought to make up ground.

The Solution

Early in our engagement with our client, we developed a strategic communications plan to elevate the profiles of the company, its CEO, and a key member of its executive team. Our multi-pronged approach included regular media training sessions to build executives’ confidence in effectively engaging with the press while avoiding common pitfalls. We also focused on thought leadership by crafting consistent LinkedIn posts, organizing relationship-building coffees and Zooms with reporters, and positioning our client’s executives as go-to sources for industry coverage. Additionally, we worked to include our client’s messaging in key legislative announcements by U.S. Senators and House members and facilitated conversations with third-party organizations and advocates to educate them about the company’s technology and the broader potential of their industry.

This strategy has yielded tangible results: regular news coverage and incoming inquiries from reporters, stronger relationships with key partners, increased awareness of our client’s innovative role in renewable energy, and a growing, bipartisan narrative positioning this industry as poised for significant growth in the coming years.
